Fallout 4 hidden quests you definitely missed on your first playthrough

Fallout 4 is a huge RPG adventure. It’s not only wasteland exploration that takes up a sizeable portion of your time, but also the number of quests to complete, or secrets to find. With so much to do, it’s understandable that you’ll have missed a number of interesting things.

Perhaps you haven’t stumbled across a vault, or there’s a great weapon just waiting to be discovered. Then, of course, we have all the little secrets and easter eggs Bethesda hid away for dedicated explorers to find. Let’s take a look at some of the details you probably missed.

Far Harbour’s shipwrecked couple

If you’re playing through the Far Harbour DLC you will discover a very familiar couple stranded in the seas of the wasteland. Far Harbour is primarily water as it’s a completely different area from the Commonwealth. Take a look around the coastline and you’ll find two skeletons on a piece of driftwood as an ode to the final scenes of Jack and Rose from the film Titanic.

Visitors from beyond the stars

After you’ve reached level 20 you’ll happen upon a random encounter. At an undisclosed time, you’ll hear a noise in the sky and see a craft hurtling toward the ground in the distance. After the craft crashes it will leave a smoke trail for you to follow. Once you arrive you’ll discover a crashed UFO with a trail of green blood coming from it. Head north and into a ravine to find an unmarked cave with an alien visitor waiting for you.

Where everybody knows your name

You’ll visit Prost Bar several times via certain missions, but you can head west from the gazebo in Swan’s Pond to find it. It’s notable because it’s filled with skeletons and a dank atmosphere. However, take a closer look and you’ll see that the bar is an exact replica of the bar from 1980’s TV show Cheers. The three skeletons propping up the bar represent Norm, Cliff, and Frasier, so if you’re a fan of the show, it’s worth discovering for yourself.

Go Bowling

Head to the General Atomics Galleria and you’ll find a bowling alley called Back Alley Bowling. If you simply walk in through the entrance there’s a strong chance you’ll die a horrible death from the Mr Handys throughout the building. If you turn in the charm, however, and convince the desk bot that you own the place, you’ll be free to explore. You can even bowl a quick game, too.

Crazy cat cabin

If you’re a fan of the wasteland’s cats, you’re going to want to seek out this cabin. In the Upper District of Diamond City, you’ll need to lockpick your way into the Hawthorne residence. Once inside you’ll find a crazy cat lady’s dream as the little fluffy felines can be seen all over the place. They’re lounging everywhere and can be approached. It’s a wonderful stop-off providing a moment of peace in your journey.

Amontillado

You may stumble across several nice nods to literature throughout Fallout 4, but this one can easily pass you by. If you go to the Castle, which is the Minutemen fortress, deep in the basement is this secret dedicated to Edgar Allen Poe and his short story, The Cask of Amontillado. In the story, the narrator tricks their friend into getting drunk before entombing them behind a brick wall. In the basement, you’ll find a skeleton chained up behind a wall surrounded by Amontillado booze bottles.

Island settlement

If you want to live the life of Robinson Crusoe you can find Spectacle Island on the southeast coast of Boston. It was once home to an eccentric billionaire who tried to escape the city, it’s now a run-down part of the wastes that you can adopt as your own. In order to create a settlement here and claim the loot, you will have to navigate heavily radiated waters that can kill humans easily, and then kill the Mirelurk Queen who’s currently in residence.

Tears in the rain

It’s no secret that the team at Bethesda are huge sci-fi geeks and to show that they added a lovely recreation of the final scene from Blade Runner. To see it for yourself, you’ll need to head to Mass Fusion Containment Shed between Breakheart Banks and General Atomics Galleria. Once here you can find a pipe behind the building that leads to the roof where you’ll find two characters, one on their knees and another laid back creating the finale of the sci-fi classic.
