As delightful as cosy gaming can be, there’s only so much farming and decorating I can partake in before I crave something with a little more bite.
The upcoming Littlelands, however, seems to perfectly cater to that desire, infusing its typical cosy formula with the kind of adventure and exploration you might find in The Legend of Zelda.
Developed by indie devs Rafael Martín and Kyle Creamer and set to be published by Apogee Entertainment, Littlelands is a sandbox action-adventure RPG set within the titular locale.
“Experience the daily life of the Littlelands at your own pace, exploring all its mysterious nooks and crannies as you get to know and help the region's quirky inhabitants,” the game’s description teases.

“Your spirit of exploration will lead you to venture into dangerous places, discover new areas full of challenges, interesting characters and curious objects, but be careful, some regions can prove to be too dangerous even for the bravest of adventurers, stay away from the region of the looting goblins!”
See? That sounds intriguing.
While players will do their fair share of farming, growing produce, fishing, cooking, and decorating, they’ll also embark on treasure hunts.
Treasure hunts will take you to “the dangerous lands of the goblinetes” but you can prepare for the obstacles these regions may throw at you by learning new skills from the many NPC’s of Littlelands.
“The world is a big place for a little creature like you, luckily it seems you won't be alone,” devs tease.
“Engage in conversation with the different characters that populate the region, discover their stories and help them with their tasks. Some of them can teach you new skills or clues that will lead you to new adventures if they like you.”
The game boasts a lovely art style, shifting away from arguably overused pixel art. Instead, the game’s aesthetic almost makes it feel as if everything has been crafted from wood.
Littlelands lacks a release date but it’s confirmed to be launching on PC storefront Steam.
You can, however, try out what the game has to offer right now thanks to a brand new free demo.
The demo grants you access to two-hours of Littlelands, with players able to try out the custom character creator before exploring six of the game’s areas.
Within these, you can encounter and help over 20 NPCs, access multiple shops, unlock several tools, and encounter seven enemy types.
That’s quite a generous line-up of content for a free demo.
You’ll cross hills, jungles, deserts, and caves with Littlelands careful not to limit itself to one biome.
As a brand new offering, there are no reviews yet on this one but it looks charming so I’m sure many cosy gamers will be giving it a go in the coming days and weeks.
