Microsoft isn’t getting the best press lately after it revealed some changes to its Xbox Game Pass subscription and it seems as though things are going from bad to worse after it reveals its plans to scrap a much-loved feature.

This month has seen Microsoft announce that it will not only be removing day one launches from the Xbox Game Pass but it will also be hiking the price of the service altogether.

Check out the Xbox Game Pass and its current perks below!

Although the price increase has long been expected, it is still a hefty blow to subscribers who rely on the service to get their hands on the latest game titles at a lower price.

However, Microsoft is not stopping there as it has revealed it is going to prevent Xbox Game Pass for consoles from being able to be stacked.

Put simply, when a Game Pass subscription has gone on sale in the past, subscribers have been able to purchase multiple months or years worth of the service to ensure they can maintain their membership at a much lower price.

However, that will no longer be the case as of September as Microsoft is going to limit the subscription to a maximum of 13 months.

"As of September 18, 2024, the maximum extension limit of Game Pass for Console will be 13 months," Microsoft detailed in its FAQ. "This will not impact any time you currently have stacked on your account that exceeds 13 months and will only impact your future ability to stack more than 13 months after September 18, 2024."

This is mainly due to the Game Pass being replaced by the Game Pass Standard in upcoming years. However, the new Standard edition will not retain all of the current perks including day one releases.

As a result, fans are unhappy with the direction things are going at Microsoft so let us hope there is light at the end of the tunnel for Xbox subscribers.
