Earlier this week, Activision published a whole lot of information on Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, covering the location, the new DMZ mode, gameplay changes, third-person playlists, six new Operators and more. What has piqued players' curiosity is the overhauled Gulag which will put two random duo squads against each other, or go for victory by battling a bigger enemy together.

Infinity Ward co-studio head Patrick Kelly had said that the sequel aims to be "absolutely disruptive and better in every single way," and given how long this post from Activision is, the team certainly has had their noses to the grindstone.

There's a new Backpack system which will contain all of the player's inventory, so when they are eliminated, they drop their primary weapon and everything else is held in the Backpack. AI combatants will be found at strongholds and black sites, and new tactical opportunities arise with new vehicles and aquatic combat.

Here's our first look at Warzone 2.0!

"The Gulag will be a 2v2 environment where randomly paired Duos must coordinate to take down their opposition," explained Activision. "All players will receive a predefined Loadout - at launch, this will be a Pistol or a Shotgun, a Lethal Grenade, and a Tactical Grenade - with highly effective weaponry and gear placed toward the map’s center."

"The Gulag will also include a Jailer, who will appear in the middle of the match to help speed up combat. Defeating the Jailer will return all four Gulag prisoners back into the Battle Royale."

As such, players are offered a choice. If the duos don't attack each other and instead take on the Jailer, they'll all return to their teams in the match. However, it's much more straightforward to eliminate the other two players. Whatever they do choose, they'll have to hop to it as there is no overtime: "if neither team nor the Jailer is eliminated after a brief period of time, all four Operators lose."

The first season of Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 will roll out for all platforms on 16 November, and you'll be able to preload it from 14 November.
