With so many new Assassin’s Creed games on the horizon, it’d be understandable if you were worried about how much of your free time was going to be taken up playing them. Thankfully though, it sounds like the next title will be a bit gentler when it comes to its runtime.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was a ridiculously long game, this we know. With a 60-hour main campaign (you can expect that time to be more than double for a completionist file, according to HowLongToBeat), the likes of the first few Assassin’s Creed games seem tiny in comparison with their 15-20 hour stories. That’s no shade to the older titles, though - they were excellent, and Ubisoft claims that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will follow in their footsteps a bit more closely than Valhalla did.

In an interview with GamesRadar+, creative director Stéphane Boudon confirmed that the devs have heard fans’ wishes loud and clear: “Amongst our fans, we started hearing the desire for a character-driven story, focused on the core pillars of the first ACs in a more intimate scale,” Boudon said. “It resonates with us as well, as developers, and this was the starting point of the project.”

Mirage isn’t the only new Assassin’s Creed game in the pipeline - also in development is a title set in feudal Japan, which is basically every fan’s dream come true. It’s currently known as Codename Red, but not much else is known about it at this time. The same goes for Codename Hexe, which some fans are hoping will have a solo female protagonist due to rumours of its story centring around the witch trials.
Unfortunately, we don’t know when most of these games are coming out, but Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to release sometime this year.
