A popular Twitch streamer has issued a warning to viewers, after it once again emerged that the Amazon-owned streaming platform takes a pretty rough zero tolerance policy when it comes to making one joke in particular.
Twitch has a pretty spotty history when it comes to banning its streamers, with many of the platform's biggest stars frequently calling it out for a lack of consistency. But when it comes to banning viewers? Well, Twitch doesn't mess around.
As you may know, it's against Twitch's terms of service to view any content on the platform if you're under 13 years old. That means that even joking about being, say, a 12-year-old in the chat, you will get you banned. Just like that. Doesn't matter how old you might be, if you say anything about being under 13, even if you're taking the piss, Twitch is gonna boot you out.
Many viewers have been aware of this for a while now, but a partnered streamer by the name of Toastie was recently forced to remind her fans that you absolutely cannot joke about being too young for Twitch.
"You can't say 'I am 12' guys," Toastie warned. "I have seen people get banned for that in my own channel. If you say 'I am 12' and then go 'haha joke', there's a bot on Twitch that'll just ban you. So don't even."
Toastie was then tragically (yet somewhat predictably) interrupted by a viewer who typed in the chat the one thing they were just asked not to type.
"No!" the streamer exclaimed. "All it takes is for someone to report you and you're gone." Sure enough, five minutes later, the offending viewer had been indefinitely suspended.
"I don't even know what to say," Toastie said as she stared at the blank page that had once been the banned viewer's Twitch account. At least we know what not to say, right?
