A talented filmmaker has recreated a Studio Ghibli classic in live-action, and it's basically perfect.
Studio Ghibli has been responsible for some of the most delightful tales ever told in anime. If I was to put together a must-watch list, I honestly wouldn't know where to start. While you could easily point people to My Neighbor Totoro or Spirited Away, another easy answer has to be Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.
Check out the gorgeous trailer for Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind below.
For those who are unfamiliar with the plot, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind follows a protagonist of the same name, living on a post-apocalyptic Earth ravaged by what could only be described as a nuclear catastrophe.

Life on the planet is separated into kingdoms, all while giant mutated bugs slowly take over the ecosystem. This prompts ruling powers to devise a plan to eradicate the insects, a plan that's stopped by Nausicaa and reiterates the importance of valuing all life equally.
It's a delightful tale and one that's now been adapted into live-action by Chris Tex and uploaded to YouTube. The runtime is around 16 minutes, so it's not the full movie, but it does feature several important moments, all beautifully recreated in a live-action setting, with some CGI magic used for special effects.
What blew us away the most was how they'd managed to perfectly recreate the vast landscapes featured in the original story, including some impressive aerial shots for when Nausicaa is zooming around the sky.

The fan film is said to be Chris Tex’s passion project, as he’s a huge fan of the original work and wanted to pay tribute to the impact it’s had on their life. Apparently, the 16-minute film took an extraordinary seven years to see completed and involved help from friends, family, and self-funding.
Safe to say it was absolutely worth it, and it turned out beautifully on the small screen.
