Star Wars: The Acolyte Could Come Back Bigger Than Ever

One star has high hopes for the series

The Acolyte deserved so much better; that’s something plenty of us can agree on.

Certainly, it didn’t appeal to everyone - and that’s okay … well, it’s okay if you just didn’t find the show entertaining.

If your problem with The Acolyte is that it had a female lead, grow up.

Unfortunately, the series just failed to bring in enough viewers to secure a second season renewal, despite the fact that I believe it very much deserves one.

I mean, come on. We were finally about to hear the tale of Darth Plagueis the Wise.

It’s always trickier getting fans on board with a new project as opposed to something with returning characters, but I do think The Acolyte predominantly suffered due to a bit of franchise fatigue.

The Book of Boba Fett nor Obi-Wan Kenobi or Ahsoka were mind-blowingly brilliant. They were … fine.

And the once wonderful The Mandalorian has somewhat struggled in later seasons.

It could just be that Star Wars had fallen out of favour, which made life very difficult for The Acolyte.

Ever since its cancellation, fans have been clamouring for its renewal with cast members also voicing how much they’d love to return.

Nothing is on the cards, for now, although several spin-off books have been released.

Qimir actor Manny Jacinto hasn’t given up hope though.

As reported by ScreenRant, Jacinto shared at Fan Expo Chicago that he was hoping for The Acolyte to follow the prequel trilogy’s trajectory.

“I feel like with the prequels, I mean, I grew up on the prequels as well, and you know, as a kid, you watch that, and you're just in awe of it. And then we grow up, and then now we have money...and we have more confidence as well, and we're able to voice our opinion,” he began.

“So I do hope that, you know, it [The Acolyte] finds new life, or it continues to find the love...you know, being out here has been so much love, and I just hope it continues, and we'll see. Never say never.”

Honestly, I could see this happening.

Just look at how everyone is suddenly obsessed with the heavily criticsed The Rise of Skywalker following the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu’s bland trailer.

The Acolyte could join the prequel trilogy in having a redemptive arc.

It would be a shame though to have to wait years for The Acolyte to make a comeback. It deserves one now.
