Star Wars fans losing their minds over new sequel leak

Hello there

A new Star Wars rumour suggests that Disney has commissioned a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The first season of Obi-Wan Kenobi aired back in 2022, and was met with a mixed general reception.

Three years later, the general opinion is that while the show had some cool moments, it was weighed down with fan service and illogical writing.

I mean, probably one of the weirdest moments in the entirety of Star Wars happens in a scene where three grown adults struggle to chase a small girl in a forest.

I get that she’s Princess Leia and therefore grows up to be kickass, but come on now.

Now, Hollywood insider DanielRPK has hinted that a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi is reportedly in development. Remember to take this with a grain of salt until Disney confirms it.

Although it was originally envisioned as a miniseries, rumours about a second season have been around since the show finished.

In particular, Lucasfilm president and Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy hinted that story beats from Obi-Wan Kenobi may be revisited further down the line.

As for where the story could go, it’s difficult to say. There aren’t really any loose ends left for Kenobi between the end of the miniseries to when we see him in A New Hope. I say let the man rest.

“I enjoyed the first season,” wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter). “However -don’t kill me- I believe, at this point, Star Wars needs at least a soft reboot.”

“Would be really funny if he just keeps on meeting and having a rematch with Darth Vader every single year up until A New Hope,” another fan wrote.

If a second season is truly in development, then hopefully Lucasfilm is able to right some of the wrongs the first season made in regards to its character development. But considering Kenobi isn’t really an active Jedi during this time in the canon, I’m not sure where the story could lead.
