Star Wars finally explains how Kylo ended up with Darth Vader's charred mask

Star Wars finally explains how Kylo ended up with Darth Vader's charred mask

It's a collector's item

Did you wonder how Kylo Ren got his hands on the mask of Darth Vader? We saw him admiring the charred mask and it led many to ask how it appeared in his possession.

Well, Marvel Comics has launched a new Star Wars series set after the Battle of Endor which reveals who had the mask before Kylo Ren.

Hell Is Us is shaping up to be a brilliant sci-fi action game, coming very soon

In Star Wars: Battle of Jakku- Insurgency Rising #1 it is revealed that Leia finds the mask in the aftermath of the battle, once Vader has redeemed himself with Luke Skywalker.

Another revelation in the comic is Luke informing Leia that their father was Darth Vader, something unknown to Leia until this moment.

She takes time to pick up the mask and sit down with it, striking up a one-sided conversation with the charred remains.

Of course, the films never visit with Leia and examine her feelings about her father, so this is a huge moment for her character.

Understandably, Leia holds a lot of anger towards her father and this moment in the comic gives her some time to process this.

As she sits beside the funeral pyre holding Vader’s body, she pulls the mask from the flames and says, “All I feel is anger - over all the things you did. The people you hurt”

Despite his redemption before death, Vader was still responsible for millions of deaths and the destruction of Alderran.

Leia continues by saying, “... The people you left behind. I’m going to set that aside for now.” before casting the helmet aside and walking back to the celebrations between the rebels and the Ewoks.

This will then be collected by another unknown person in the galaxy, likely a scavenger, before it falls into the hands of Vader’s grandson Kylo Ren where it became a point of fascination for the would-be tyrant.
