Star Wars fans divided over identity of Han Solo’s real parents

I guess he grew up Solo

The parentage of various Star Wars characters is always being called into question, as the series has forever been about lineage.

Throughout many Star Wars projects we’ve found out more about Luke Skywalker’s father, Darth Vader, and even his family history has been explored.

Father and son stories fuel the Star Wars franchise, ever since the start

However, some characters don’t get much of a backstory and while that’s okay, it is something that fans will question.

One fan favourite, Han Solo, is very much an enigma throughout the franchise.

His parents are never really revealed, though in the spin-off film, Solo, we did hear more about his father.

One fan questioned why we never heard anything about his mother, over on Reddit.

They asked why we haven’t had any information on Han Solo’s mother, and the answer from LiveFromNewYork95 might go some way to revealing why.

They say, “It continues the theme of Star Wars being about fathers and sons.”

It is always an option that Disney simply doesn’t think that everything needs to be explained in order to flesh out a character.

As another fan puts it, “Han’s dad is only mentioned as a throwaway line to set up Han instantly mastering the Falcon.”

JediPaxis theorises on the point, saying, “Perhaps he never knew his mother. It could also have something to do with not having a last name when we first meet him. Maybe something painful happened with Han's family when he was young.”

It’s all speculation, really, which is one of the joys of popular culture, and a great aspect of these big franchises.

The gaps in histories let fans explore their own ideas without a firm hand guiding the narrative constantly.

If you want to believe he was a momma’s boy, then have at it.

If you want to think he never knew his mother, then that’s fine too. It’s best to not reveal everything, eh?
