Star Wars fans work out where Grogu was during the original trilogy

Where was he hiding?

Grogu’s whereabouts during the original trilogy are unknown, but he must have been hiding somewhere before the mandalorian found him.

We know very little about Grogu’s history in the Star Wars galaxy. We know he was there when the Jedi temple fell and was rescued before the clones could get him, and we know he somehow made his way to Arvala-7 where he was found by Din Djarin.

So where was he between the events of the prequels and the original trilogy? We don’t know for sure but fans have their theories.

In a Reddit thread posted by holysitkit, it was speculated that Grogu “spent the entire duration of the Original Trilogy frozen in Carbonite.”

Now that’s a pretty bold theory, but hear them out as they make some good points as to how this could have happened.

The user goes on to explain, “We know Grogu is 50 - and still very much toddler-like. He was training in the Jedi temple we know prior to Order 66, which takes place 28 years prior to the events of The Mandalorian. So Grogu is training at age 22."

They continued, “We also know Yoda started training Jedi around age 100, so Grogu appears to have advanced very little from age 22 to age 50, and has a lot of maturing to do before he is 100.”

With this in mind, the fan determines that sometime after being rescued he must have been frozen in Carbonite, which explains why he’s still a child during The Mandalorian and why force-sensitive people like Yoda and Obi-Wan didn’t know he existed.

While it’s not too far-fetched of a theory, there’s every chance that we never learn more about Grogu’s history. After all, part of his charm is that he’s just a little guy you make cute toys out of.
