Star Wars Actor Teases the Return of Fan-Favourite Jedi

Return of the King

Star Wars could welcome back one of its most popular Jedi characters in a future series - hopefully, anyway.

The galaxy far, far away is pretty big and continues to grow with every new film, TV series, video game, and novel.

That said, despite its expanding size, it’s starting to feel like the same Star Wars characters keep cropping up and that doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon…

For those hoping Obi-Wan Kenobi is one such character to return yet again, you’re in luck as actor Ewan McGregor seems pretty confident he’ll hold a lightsaber once more at some point.

Obi-Wan Kenobi returned to our screens in his own spin-off series set between the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith and Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The story followed the disgraced Jedi returning to the fray to save a young Leia, as well as face-off against his former apprentice Anakin, who by this point was Darth Vader.

It wasn’t the best spin-off and it left a lot of fans wanting more, though there’s now a good chance that’s what they’ll get.

Talking on a panel at Fan Expo Canada, McGregor spoke about his career as Obi-Wan and what the future holds, saying, “I’m sure, at some point, they’ll do something else with Obi-Wan.”

While that’s not confirmation of a second season, it’s at least nice to know he’s somewhat down for a reprisal, perhaps one that explores Obi-Wan’s training with Qui-Gon as a force ghost, which was teased at the end of the series.

It was recently rumoured that McGregor would reprise his role in Ahsoka S2, but that rumour has since been shot down for the time being.

Hopefully we see Obi-Wan Kenobi again though. I’m personally hoping for another flashback to the Clone Wars so we can see McGregor don the animated series’ armour in live-action.
