Star Wars Acolyte season 2 update isn't what we wanted to hear

Sorry Star Wars fans

Star Wars fans are torn on whether The Acolyte should get a second season, and it’s not looking hopeful.

The most recent Star Wars show on Disney+ garnered a mixed reception from critics and fans, with GAMINGbible calling it an “enthralling new era” in Star Wars media.

Many fans didn’t see it this way though, and have completely dismissed the notion of it getting a second series.

While it’s not up to them to decide if it deserves another chance, it is up to Disney and if rumours are to be believed it seems like the company has no intention of renewing it.

Showrunner Leslye Headland has said in the past conversations around a second season have taken place, but no decision has been made.

It’s a shame too because it sounds like the show’s creative team had a few ideas on where it could next, at least for another season that is.

Headland said: "We could make it pretty quickly. We definitely have a timeline. I have a lot of ideas, and again, a lot of it was stuff that I told Kathleen (Kennedy) early on, in terms of where I would like the season to go, and the conflicts that I see happening, specifically in the second season."

In all likelihood The Acolyte is dead and buried, as Disney seems to have very high-standards for what shows deserve additional seasons.

The Mandalorian and Ahsoka are confirmed to continue, and other spin-off TV series have also been greenlit, indicating the company is throwing as many things as possible at the wall in the hopes something sticks.

That being said it isn’t over until it’s over, and a second season of The Acolyte could very well happen if fans demand it, and if it’s profitable of course.
