For some reason, the classic sitcom TV series The Office is getting an official video game.
Don’t get us wrong, as much as we love the original The Office (UK) TV series starring Ricky Gervais and its US adaptation starring Steve Carell, I’m not sure if anyone ever in the existence of humankind asked for a video game adaptation.
Check out The Office trailer below!
As reported by Game Rant, The Office video game in question isn't a big-budget AAA title to be released on PlayStation or Xbox but instead is a VR game coming to Meta Quest and will launch on its dedicated social platform, Meta Horizon.

Even though the UK version of The Office is the original, it only ran for two seasons compared to its US counterpart which ran for a much more impressive nine seasons. Either series of The Office is considered by many to be one of the best sitcoms of all time.
That being said, with the final 201st episode of The Office (US) ending in 2013, it’s strange that over a decade later, it would be getting a video game adaptation. That being said, unless it’s a Sim-like game, the only way this could work would be in a virtual reality format, and here we are.
According to a press release, in The Office World, players will be working in the iconic Dunder Mifflin office and once a desk is claimed will partake in various minigames inspired by the TV series. Furthermore, players can earn an in-game currency called “Schrute Bucks” that can be used to buy desk decorations from a vending machine.
Sarah Malkin, director at Metaverse Entertainment said: “The Office World gives fans a completely new way to experience the series through the interactive possibilities of virtual reality.”

The Office World will launch on 10 October 2024. Somehow, I suspect this won't be a Game of the Year contender but you never know.
