Sony apparently wants to bring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfleld back for Spider-Man 4, against the wishes of Marvel Studios.
The next Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland is going to be a big moment for fans, as it’ll likely be the first time the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of the wallcrawler genuinely stands on his own, unless Sony has its way.
Speaking of Spider-Man films, Kraven The Hunter doesn’t star our friendly neighbourhood hero, but it still looks…good?
Apparently Sony is eager to bring back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield for the next movie, despite Kevin Feige’s wishes to keep the story more grounded than Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The two Spider-Men joined the MCU’s Peter Parker towards the end of the last film, helping to pick him back up after the death of Aunt May and assisting him in saving the Sinister Six from their predetermined fates.
The film ended with Peter essentially having his origin story reset, with the world forgetting he ever existed, a new suit he stitched together himself, and bills to pay.
Honestly that’s a great set-up for the next film, so to have that spoiled by yet another multiversal team-up seems like a recipe for disaster, and fans are in agreement.
Despite the love for Tobey and Andrew’s version of the webhead, fans think bringing them back outside of maybe a Secret Wars storyline would be a mistake.

“Tobey and Andrew are great and all, but man I really just want a grounded Spider-Man movie” said one fan.
“Ok now that’s pushing it. You got away with it for the first time doing again for no reason is just plain dumb lol” said another.
One even pointed out how frustrating it must be for Marvel Studios to “work with Sony on anything Spider-Man related.”
Luckily recent developments and teases are hinting at Spider-Man 4 to be the grounded superhero flick we’ve been dreaming of, and as long as Sony stays back and let’s Marvel Studios cook, that’s probably what we’re getting.
