Spider-Man fans hyped over our new MCU Spidey actor

In case we didn’t have enough media surrounding Peter Parker’s early days of being Spider-Man, there is another coming just next month and fans are feeling optimistic about our brand-new star.

Although many Spider-Man fans have been calling out for a story based around Peter Parker’s more established web-slinging days, it seems as though producers have other plans with another upcoming project dedicated to our teenage superhero.

Arriving on 29 January, Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man is an upcoming animated television show which “follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero”.

Having to juggle school work with saving the world is no easy task but this Disney+ show, which takes place in an alternative timeline, shows us just how Peter does it, alongside help from Norman Osborn as his mentor.

With the show set to air in just a few weeks, Marvel Studios recently released its first trailer for Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man and despite fans feeling divided on its unique art-style, others have expressed their excitement for a new actor taking on the iconic titular role.

This time, Peter Parker will be voiced by Hudson Thames who is perhaps best-known for his role as Mitchell Rosen in Mad Men.

However, this will not be Thames’ first involvement with the MCU as he just so happens to play the role of Spider-Man in What If…?

So it is perhaps no surprise that he already has the awkward teenager role already nailed down.

Taking to r/television, one potential fan had the following to say about our new Spidey:

“When they cast the same actor who played Spidey in What If...?, I was expecting another Tom Holland impression.

Since the show got reworked out of the MCU, it's nice they let the actor do his own thing.”

In the new Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, we can hear Thames’ take on Peter and it is safe to say that he pretty much nails it.

Here is hoping that this will continue throughout the first season which airs on Disney+ on 29 January, 2025.
