The rumoured title for the next Spider-Man movie has seemingly leaked and it has fans torn on social media.
We know that Spider-Man 4 is on the way and we know that Tom Holland will reprise the role of the friendly neighbourhood hero. However, at this time, we don't know what story it will tell, yet, a reported title might hint at what we can expect.

Without giving too much away, in the 2021 movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker made a heartbreaking sacrifice that looks to have a major impact on the next movie and some hope that Spider-Man 4 could be a more grounded tale.

That being said, it’s clear that Sony is intent on building its own MCU with its Spider-Man universe. Whether Sony garners a level of success that remotely gets close to what Disney has achieved is a topic for another day.
Later this month, Venom: The Last Dance arrives in cinemas and it looks to be Tom Hardy’s last soirée as Eddie Brock but it could have big implications for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man going forward.
On Twitter, Cosmic Marvel shared information sourced from Cyptic4KQual that claims the next Spider-Man movie will be called Spider-Man: King in Black. If true, this would mean that it’s going to be inspired by the 2020 comic written by Donny Cates.

The King in Black comic book series centres around the supervillain known as Knull, and is credited with creating symbiotes which is of course what the likes of Venom and Carnage are. What’s more, Knull is set to make his debut in Venom: The Last Dance.

So, when we consider that the full title of Spider-Man 4 has not been made official, at least publicly, and with Knull expected to make his live-action debut in Venom: The Last Dance, Spider-Man: King in Black is beginning to make sense.
However, not everyone is happy about the potential title. “I like when they used "home" in the titles,” replied pmtwreckhouse to the tweet from Cosmic Marvel.
“So, no more “home” in the titles,” asked Gowdham.
“I’m so glad they’re keeping it grounded and down to earth,” said a sarcastic GeorgeDeLacy.

At the end of the day, as cool as it sounds, the title Spider-Man: King in Black is unconfirmed speculation so we should take it with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. Hopefully, Sony will reveal all in the coming months and put us out of our misery.
Venom: The Last Dance arrives in cinemas on 25 October.
