One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest stars just let a pretty huge spoiler slip, and it has massive implications for both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Fair warning: I actually think this is a pretty big spoiler in general, so if you’re trying to do the impossible and go into Disney’s Avengers: Doomsday spoiler-free… then stop reading here. You’ve been warned.
So, the spoiler in question comes in two parts - both from the same interview with Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch.

The interview, published yesterday, was between Cumberbatch and Variety’s Brett Lang, and honestly, the funniest part about it is that Cumberbatch wasn’t influenced in the slightest.
“Cumberbatch has just let something slip, and he seems momentarily horrified by his candor,” writes Lang.
“You see, he’s just told me that Doctor Strange is taking a hiatus in the next Marvel sequel, 2026’s “Avengers: Doomsday.” “Is that a spoiler?” he asks.”
But it doesn’t end there. Less than two seconds later, Cumberbatch just decided to randomly drop a huge spoiler for Avengers: Secret Wars.

“Cumberbatch’s absence from “Doomsday” has to do with “[Doctor Strange] not aligning with this part of the story.” And though he probably shouldn’t be saying this, [Cumberbatch] also reveals that Doctor Strange is “in a lot” of “Avengers: Secret Wars,” which will hit theaters in 2027.”
Oh, and he just keeps going too. Cumberbatch then stated that Doctor Strange is “quite central to where things might go,” and then, Lang writes that Cumberbatch revealed that Doctor Strange will also “appear in a third stand-alone film, but is hesitant to say too much beyond praising Marvel for being collaborative.”
Good lord, man. Is this the same guy who made fun of Tom Holland for spoiling stuff during the press tour for Spider-Man: No Way Home? Disney is going to be en route to his house ASAP.
