Marvel's MCU Phase 6 teaser promises we're getting a welcome change

With Marvel’s Phase Six expected to start in July, fans have begun speculating as to what this means for the franchise as a whole.

There is no denying that the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to dominate media with feature films, shows, video games and comics continuing to release on a regular basis.

Check out the trailer for one of the latest hit Disney+ shows, Agatha All Along, below!

However, with Marvel’s Phase Five expected to end in Mid July to make way for Phase Six, it seems as though we will be receiving a welcome change alongside the new shift.

Phase Six kicks off with The Fantastic Four: First Steps for the first feature film and the animated Eyes of Wakanda marking the first series which are set to release in July and August respectively.

However, this is just the start for the brand-new era of Marvel and, according to Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum, the company’s approach to creating Disney+ shows is getting an overhaul.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Winderbaum revealed that from now on, all of its shows will include a showrunner who will be in charge of overseeing the creative process of each project in order to make the upcoming Disney+ shows more like the standard television show process.

"One thing we are doing is we're developing a lot of shows now simultaneously,” he explained.

“So, in a way, we're making television more in a traditional style where we are going to write multiple pilots and show bibles before we decide what we want to produce and actually bring to the screen, which gives us an opportunity to experiment and also to plan all sorts of different Marvel sandboxes."

More specifically, Winderbaum explains how their goal is to tie its Disney+ shows directly in with any MCU film releases.

As a result, viewers will not have to catch up with every Marvel project in order to understand a new show, for example.

Not only that but it seems as though Marvel has a lot of projects in the pipeline.

"We are thinking about television really more like traditional television where they could last for multiple seasons, where we can see the characters brew in the culture for hopefully many years,” Winderbaum continued.
