MCU fans hyped as OG Avengers return in new teaser

A clever homage

I’ll admit, I haven’t got around to watching Thunderbolts* but like the rest of the world, I now know what that asterisk means.

The Thunderbolts are actually The New Avengers, a spoiler that spread across the internet like wildfire pretty much the second the film hit cinemas.

In fact, it was less than 48 hours before Marvel Studios embarked on a new marketing campaign, with the film’s cast unveiling new *The New Avengers posters across the globe.

My biggest gripe with today’s entertainment world is how impossible it is to avoid spoilers.

I used to go all day at school on a Monday avoiding Game of Thrones spoilers, watching the episode when I got home; you could never achieve such a feat now, but I digress.

The New Avengers have more in common with the OG Avengers beyond the fact that they’re both superhero teams who use the word ‘Avengers’.

One of *The New Avengers’ posters actually pays homage to an OG Avengers classic.

Who’s hyped for The Fantastic Four: First Steps?

This Easter egg was spotted by M00r3C over on Reddit, and I feel silly for not noticing it myself.

One of the new posters for Thunderbolts* is a recreation of an Avengers: Endgame poster.

Click through the slideshow in the post below to see exactly what I mean.

In fact, if you look closely at the Thunderbolts* / *The New Avengers poster, you’ll notice that each of the characters has the shadow of an OG Avenger.

Bob has Thor’s shadow while Yelena has Natasha’s. Red Guardian has Hulk’s, Bucky has Tony Stark’s … You get the idea.

“This is a cool poster,” remarked user RYRAZZAK203.

“Between this and Lilo and Stitch, Disney’s marketing department is having a blast recently,” added sector11374265.

Others shared my complaint about Marvel revealing the film’s The New Avengers twist so shortly following its release.

Regardless, Thunderbolts* is another positive step forwards for the MCU which has been rebuilding its fortunes over the last year or so.

Let’s hope The Fantastic Four: First Steps delivers.
