With Marvel Studios pushing forward towards Avengers: Secret Wars and the collapsing of the multiverse as we know it, the company cancelled their animated show What If…?

With season three, the multiversal show comes to an end, and fans are split on whether this is a good thing or a bad thing for the future of Marvel.

The show took a chance to play around with the characters and the stories from the MCU and some will miss it.

On Reddit, one fan posted a thread saying exactly that and explained, “I can think of so many episodes I would love to see.”

“Rest it for now and bring it back after Secret Wars,” says Jajaloo.

The idea could be that Marvel will rest the show, for now, as they attempt to wrap up this phase and deal with the heroes and villains before the X-Men debut.

This seems to be a sentiment that many are hoping for.

“The creators said that this current iteration is ending, which means there's a very high chance that it's gonna return,” mentions one comment.

Rogillo got stuck right in with their thoughts, “They've been putting out incredibly boring, badly written episodes. I'm glad they're ending it, so I don't have to waste any more time watching it thinking they will put out something good.”

What If…? has been a divisive show, with many lamenting the quality of the writing, though it still has fans who dipped in for some banger outings.

Overall, it seems that many Redditors are glad to see it end with comments like this one, “They missed the point entirely with What If…? is supposed to be. Couldn't even finish second season and will never watch the third.”

Perhaps Marvel will use the time to focus on other animated projects and we’ll see a new and revitalised version of this in the next phase.
