Marvel is introducing a fan-favourite X-Men character years before their live-action debut in the MCU.

The X-Men have been on the minds of MCU fans everywhere ever since Disney purchased 20th Century Fox, giving them access to all of the mutants who’ve been making cameo appearances over the last few years.

We also got Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine back in Deadpool And Wolverine

Now the first official MCU X-Men film isn’t due for another few years, presumably the next big thing after Avengers: Secret Wars, but that hasn’t stopped the studio from introducing some of its characters early.

Storm is the next X-Men to be introduced, through Season 3 of What-If?.. a series that takes the MCU timeline we know and love and shows us what could have happened if our heroes took different paths.

Fans got a sneak-peak at Season 3 during Disney’s D23 event, which also gave us glimpses at the new Spider-Man animated series as well as live-action shows like Daredevil: Born Again.

During the exclusive first-look it was shown one of the episodes will focus on Storm acquiring Mjolnir, which as we all know is Thor’s hammer which amplifies his ability to wield thunder and lightning.

It’s been said that Alison Sealy-Smith will play the character in the series, who some may recognise from X-Men ‘97 where she played the same role.

How Mjolnir will change Storm’s fate remains to be seen, but it’s worth noting that Storm is one of the most powerful mutants going, so giving her a magical hammer that amplifies her abilities should make for some interesting developments.

That’s the animated side of things though, as for who’ll play Storm when the live-action X-Men make their debut is unknown.

It’s also far too early to speculate unfortunately, as the project is only in the early stages of production at the time of writing, so casting updates won’t be provided for quite a while.
