The MCU is full of heroes and villains all vying for new films and TV shows, but what about the characters we’ve had since the beginning?
It’s a simple question, “Should there be a Thor 5?” and it was posed over on Reddit.
Would Thor work better in a TV show on Disney+ instead?
I can give you my answer; no.

I don’t think there should be, at least not this incarnation of Thor. He’s become too much of a joke, and I can’t see how Marvel is going to walk that back.
Many fans feel the same way, as one Redditor points out, “I want Thor to feel like a real person again instead of a bumbling bafoon.”
The consensus is split down the middle on a new film, though.
When questioning a Thor 5, Psychoeticcc says, “I hate to end on what we got, so absolutely.”

Skullcrusher158 excitedly agrees, “Why's this even a question? ABSOLUTELY YES!”
Several fans have other ideas and would rather Chris Hemsworth use his voice in an animated show, or make a jump to TV instead.
This idea comes up a lot, actually.
“Do a Thor series, but he has to go back to New Asgard and be King,” said Alice_600.

Cosmoboy agrees, “Thor should have been a TV series about his adventures throughout Asgard, with him occasionally crossing over in movies.”
It has felt for some time as if Marvel has no idea what to do with Thor.
He’s an Asgardian, put him in Asgard and have him fighting a different enemy each week, or build up the history of the Gods in a film.
We’ve seen that when Marvel focuses on a slice of the universe it works (see Agatha All Along and WandaVision) so why not here?

There are so many great Thor stories to adapt, as shown by nofing5, “Rune King Thor, Herald Of Galactus Thor, Old Phoenix King Thor, Old King Thor.”
I’m sure he’ll be back soon, though, likely in the upcoming Avengers duology.
