Marvel fans are in for an exciting few years with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars expected to hit cinemas in 2026 and 2027, respectively.

However, as the first Avengers movie since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, it is safe to say that Doomsday will have a lot to live up to, especially as it will be the first time that we meet our brand-new team of superheroes.

Captain America: Brave New World is up next for the MCU.

Set to hit cinemas on 1 May, 2026, filming for Avengers: Doomsday is expected to start in Spring 2025 and so its plot and a vast majority of its cast still remains a mystery.

What we do know is that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the MCU but this time he will be taking on the role of Doctor Doom as opposed to the beloved Tony Stark/Iron Man.

We also know that the Russo brothers will be returning as Doomsday’s directors and so we can expect the same level of quality as the previous Avengers movies.

Now, according to a recent Q&A with Marvel insider Alex Perez, we have an idea of some of the other characters we may see in this highly-anticipated movie.

Courtesy of The Cosmic Circus, Perez was recently asked a few questions about Thunderbolts* and if any of its cast would also be appearing in Doomsday.

“Oh yeah. You can expect to see the Thunderbolts* show up in Avengers: Doomsday. It’s going to be kind of hilarious and probably tense because imagine how Sam’s going to feel when he tries to assemble the Avengers, only for the title of the team to be taken by another group of rogue characters and Bucky and Walker are on the same team.

The intense stare-down that’s gonna happen there is gonna be hilarious,” he said.

We also know that the brand-new Fantastic Four team will reportedly make an appearance in the next Avengers entry but according to Perez, fans should also make sure to watch Captain America: Brave New World before watching Doomsday.

“Definitely would recommend watching those two films prior to Avengers: Doomsday,” he confirmed.

It is looking like Avengers: Doomsday will feature quite an expansive cast but with the movie not expected for just under two-years, we still have a bit longer to wait.
