The Lord of the Rings fandom has received its first look at a returning character, and initial feedback is overwhelmingly positive.

For a lot of fans, it’s been a while since they’ve been this hyped about a Lord of the Rings film.

There are a lot of new irons in the fire for this franchise.

It’s this upcoming adventure that has fans so excited, specifically about the return of a foreboding but equally impressive character.

During the trailer for The War of the Rohirrim, audiences were treated to their first look at Saruman.

“Is this for real?! I had no idea Saruman would feature,” exclaimed Redditor Son_of_kitsch.

In the live action films, it was Christopher Lee who portrayed this iconic villain.

Sadly, Lee has since passed, leaving fans to debate who will be able to capture the deep, commanding tones that Lee made synonymous with the character.

User Son_of_kitsch added, “I’m now even more excited. A lot of pressure on the voice actor though…”

Throughout the discussions, many believe it’ll be actor Corey Burton, best known for voicing Count Dooku in the Star Wars animations, who’ll voice Saruman.

Of course, this has yet to be confirmed.

Beyond speculation over voice actors, others are simply blown away with how “cool” this version of Saruman looks.

“Wow he looks really good,” said another Redditor.

Further down in the comments, _SpicySauce_ posted about their increasing excitement about this film, “Looks awesome, getting more and more excited by all this the more I see.”
