Harry Potter TV Series To Clear Up a 30 Year Mystery

Can't blame him for celebrating

The Harry Potter books have plenty of little moments and interesting tidbits that never made it into the films, mostly due to the significant time constraints of the one movie for one book approach.

The upcoming HBO series is set to cover one book with each series of the show, and that means we are likely looking at around eight hours for each.

This is obviously a lot more time, and it gives the writer's the chance to really dial-in on the details, with the potential for it to be a far more faithful adaptation (even if it's a massively uphill battle to become more beloved).

Filming for the series is now well underway, and leaks are emerging from set all the time, particularly when they head to more public areas to do so.

Dedalus Diggle Makes An Appearance

As first reported by ComicBook, based on a video shared by Wizarding World Direct on Twitter/X, the series recently filmed a scene where a wizard stands on a rooftop, gleefully shooting spells into the sky.

Many believe this to be Dedalus Diggle, member of the original Order of the Phoenix who was mentioned in the first book by McGonagall for his overt celebrations when Voldemort was defeated, "Shooting stars down in Kent. I'll bet that was Dedalus Diggle. He never had much sense."

What's more interesting is the fact that the character is wearing a vivid violet robe. In Philosopher's Stone, Vernon Dursley bumps into a relatively elderly wizard who is also celebrating Voldemort's downfall.

This could mean that the show is finally set to settle exactly who that was, and it's been a question that fans have had since the release of the first Harry Potter book almost three decades ago.

Diggle himself isn't a particularly noteworthy character in the very wide canon of the books, often relegated to mentions from others, rather than actual tangible appearances.

What we do know is that he was an active member of the original Order and was trusted with the responsibility of getting the muggle Dursleys to safety when they were forced to leave 4 Privet Drive in The Deathly Hallows.

Whatever the case does end up being, it's further evidence that the show is doing everything it can to include more moments from the books.

Though this will inevitably come as exciting news to fans, the wider context of author JK Rowling's controversial views continues to be a major point of discussion around the series' release.
