Harry Potter fans torn over surprise new release we never saw coming

Not what we expected

Harry Potter is back, but not in the way you’d expect. Seriously, you wouldn’t be able to guess this one.

The Harry Potter franchise is huge, no doubt, and throughout the years, it's dipped its toe into a variety of different media, like films, the new rebooted TV series, and video games.

Check out the teaser trailer for the HBO Max reboot show below.

However, what you might have not seen coming is Harry Potter heading into Japanese manga, because why would you expect that?

Nevertheless, it’s real and it’s happening, as the series has crossed over with Detective Conan, a popular manga.

You can see a teaser for it online, showcasing a cover page featuring the Detective Conan characters arranged like the cover of the first Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, or Sorcerer’s Stone if you're in the US.

The story itself isn’t related to Harry Potter, it’s just a fun nod to the series which is absolutely huge in Japan like it is everywhere else in the world.

As for worldwide fans, they’re still waiting for news on the HBO Max revival series, which will start the story from scratch and tell an entire book’s story in a single season.

Casting news hasn’t been shared as of yet, but a few leaks have given us an idea as to who is being considered for various roles, like Professor Albus Dumbledore, Professor Snape, and others.

Fans have also thrown in their own two-cents and shared who they’d like to see brought onto the show, most recently who they’d like to play Hagrid.

The Harry Potter franchise is arguably larger than ever, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon, and probably never will either.
