The Harry Potter franchise, outside of gaming, has been languishing for some time until the recent announcement of a HBO TV adaptation.
While the fandom hasn’t left the franchise behind, it hasn’t had the same focus as other pop culture giants like Star Wars or Marvel.
Harry Potter is being remade for TV by HBO.
HBO plan to film all seven books for TV, recasting characters and using the television format to focus on more of the story.

However, the mainline books may not be the only thing on the minds of the HBO creatives.
According to HPMoviesNews on Twitter, the company is eyeing the Fantastic Beasts spin-off for its own TV show.
While this is something you can get excited about, it’s worth taking the rumour with a pinch of salt.
The rumour is being reported by a relatively small Twitter account who doesn’t usually report on this kind of news.

They report this is coming from an “internal source” so there may be some credibility.
It wouldn’t be a big surprise for Warner Bros. to be pivoting away from film and into TV, given the many successes to be found by bringing movies series to the smaller screen.
The Harry Potter Wizarding World is much bigger than just the titular hero and his friends, and if Warner Bros. wants to pick up new fans, this could be a sure-fire way to do it.
We’re not expecting any official confirmation here, so this rumour may fade into obscurity.

If there’s any truth to it, we’ll surely hear about it during 2025, and in the build-up to announcements for the Potter TV series.
Fans have plenty to look forward to over the coming years with rumoured Hogwarts Legacy DLC and the highly anticipated sequel which is supposedly in the making.
