HBO’s Harry Potter TV adaptation is set to begin filming this year, with Warner Bros’ Leavesden studio once again becoming the home of Potter.
If you didn’t know, the UK-based studio is where the original film series was made and is, in fact, where fans can visit the original sets via the Warner Bros’ Studio Tour London: The Making of Harry Potter.
If you stop by the tour this year, you could be - likely unbeknownst to you - within a mile or so of the filming of the next generation of Potter.

The series will, rather interestingly, reuse some old sets whilst reimagining others. The Great Hall is one of the sets that’s confirmed to return.
I did wonder how the series would overcome the enormous hurdle that is tackling a project that visually remains so prevalent in our memories.
Honouring the past whilst carving out pockets of something new could be the best approach, as I just don’t think a radical reimagining would be welcomed by fans.
Despite filming kicking off this year, the TV show’s cast is yet to be announced. There are rumours, of course, but nothing is yet concrete.

Fans are in agreement though that they don’t want to see any of the original film cast return.
ICYMI: Take a look at the show’s original teaser trailer.
“The new HBO series should not cast any actors from the Harry Potter films,” wrote one Reddit user, garnering hundreds of upvotes.

“Bringing old actors sort of just lessens this as being stand alone and also would take the audience out of being invested in the characters and more into the actors themselves,” they continued. “Fresh faces are what is needed rather than old faces.”
It’s a thought echoed by many.
“I think there is zero chance a single actor is used again. They will be dodging as many comparisons as possible,” replied MintberryCrunch____.
“Every actor should be unknown. Start fresh and let them make the characters their own,” added RunJumpSleep.

A dubious ugluk-the-uruk said, “I generally agree but being fully distinct will be impossible. It'll always be compared to the movies, and currently Dan, Rupert, and Emma are the definitive Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the public consciousness.”
Whether you’re excited about the series or not, it’ll definitely be interesting to see how the end result is received.
