God of War 2026 Return Has Gamers Losing Their Minds

The team they have behind this one is impressive

God of War is finally making a comeback, and fans are already excited for the team behind the new project.

It’s been pretty obvious for a while now that something God of War-shaped is coming, following the financial and critical success of 2022’s God of War Ragnarök, but the sheer volume of leaks and rumours regarding Sony’s next foray into the franchise has made things difficult to keep track of.

Santa Monica Studio is 100% working on some kind of God of War game right now, but each different leak seems to be saying something slightly different, so your guess is as good as mine at this point.

However, we now know for certain that one God of War project is beginning production in 2026… it just won’t be on the PlayStation 5 (or any video game console, for that matter).

As revealed by Nexus Point News last weekend, sources revealed to the site that the God of War TV show is finally entering production in March 2026.

Announced back in 2022, the series is a joint production between both Amazon and Sony. It's being helmed by Ronald D. Moore, who is serving as its showrunner, producer, and one of its writers.

Several other writers are joining Moore for writing duties on the series, including Stephanie Shannon (known for her work on For All Mankind), Joe Menosky (Star Trek: Discovery) and Marc D. Bernardin (Star Trek: Picard).

And, as of now, that’s pretty much all we know about the series. Ronald D. Moore did state back in July during an interview with IGN that God of War (2018) will be an inspiration for the story, but that’s the juiciest detail we know.

Over on the r/GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit, fans seem pretty pleased with the details in Nexus Point News’ report.

“This is the writer's room I would have liked to see for their Mass Effect show. Stacked with sci-fi talent,” commented user firesyrup.

“Ronald Moore has a fantastic track record so I do have fairly high hopes for this!” replied user Tribalwarsnorge.

“Damn, Ronald D. Moore and Naren Shankar? Count me in!” commented user maorismurf999.

Unfortunately, there’s no news on who they’re planning to cast as Kratos quite yet… but considering that production is set to begin in March next year, I’d be surprised if we don’t hear something on that front soon.
