Prime Video’s Fallout certainly deserved its win at this month’s The Game Awards for ‘Best Adaptation’.
It did have some stiff competition, and I did wonder whether in fact Arcane might take the trophy for its fantastic second season.
That was perhaps the only other title truly in contention, as enjoyable as Knuckles, Like a Dragon: Yakuza, and Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft were.

Fallout was a triumphant success, both with critics and viewers, and with fans old and new.
I’ll admit, Fallout wasn’t something that I was an expert on ahead of the show’s release but like so many others, the series sent me flocking to Fallout 4 to soak up some more of the franchise’s post-apocalyptic action.
That’s when you create magic, when longtime fans feel seen with nods to series’ lore and Easter eggs, while new fans are enchanted by a world for the first time.
Thankfully for us, Fallout was swiftly renewed for a second outing - one which is currently in the midst of filming.

Already, eagle-eyed fans have spied some on-set clues as to what the next season has in store.
While accepting the ‘Best Adaptation’ accolade, TV series co-creator Jonathan Nolan also dropped a rather exciting New Vegas-related teaser.
ICYMI: Take a look at the time we played snog, marry, irradiate with the cast of Fallout.
Before I proceed, I want to warn you that spoilers for Fallout’s season one finale lie ahead.

At the end of the series, Ella Purnell’s Lucy could be seen looking out across the Nevada desert with New Vegas visible in the distance.
As such, it’s always been kind of obvious that Fallout is going to partially adapt New Vegas - especially as the New California Republic is such an integral part of Fallout’s storyline.
I say partially though as Fallout is actually set around 15 years after the events of New Vegas.
This ongoing storyline is something Nolan’s aforementioned acceptance speech touched upon.

“I want to thank Fallout: New Vegas fans for not burning down my house,” Nolan jested. “You’ll be thankful you didn’t."
Whatever is coming in season two, Nolan is confident that it’ll appease, heck even thrill, New Vegas fans - and that’s a very exciting prospect.
With filming only just having begun, it’s unlikely that we’ll see season two land before late 2025.
