James Gunn has made another announcement regarding his reboot of the DCU. This time, talking about everything Batman.
In a recent interview, Gunn announced that he has an actor tied to the role of Clayface, a well-loved Batman villain.
A sequel to The Batman is currently in the works with Matt Reeves returning to direct.
While the casting news doesn’t relate directly to any live-action projects, it’s exciting to know that Alan Tudyk will be taking on the role of Clayface in the DCU.

Tudyk is a serious talent when it comes to voice work, being able to put on various accents and styles to bring characters to life.
He will be taking on the part for the animated show Creature Commandos, reprising the role from Harley Quinn.
According to the man himself, this version of Clayface will be “a killer” and a “homicidal maniac”.
As I said, Tudyk actually already played Clayface in the Harley Quinn show. However, in that project he plays a “moron” and the actor shares that he’s excited to “play the same character two completely different ways".

Speaking on the casting Tudyk told Rotten Tomatoes TV, “It’s really nice that James let me play Clayface. I was so happy. I didn’t even have to ask, I was going to ask. When I saw it in there, he let me know that I got to do it.”
Interestingly, James Gunn has said on multiple occasions that whoever does the voice work of an animated character will also play the role in live-action projects.
This could mean we see Tudyk step into Gotham and play opposite whoever the next Batman will be.
News on that casting is still very much under wraps, but it seems that Gunn’s DCU is slowly coming together.

This cannot be confused with Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson of which the sequel is currently in production.
Batman and DC fans will be eating well for the next few years.
