A recent Batman DCU tease has confirmed a story beat that will please a lot of fans of the Caped Crusader.
I love Batman, alongside Wolverine, he’s my favourite comic book character. However, I’m sick to death of the origin story regarding his silly parents taking a shortcut in the ominously named “Crime Alley” that not only resulted in them being robbed at gunpoint but also cost them their lives.

Much like Peter Parker being bitten by a radioactive spider, most of us don't need to hear the origin story of Bruce Wayne and how he was motivated to become Batman. This is one of the reasons why I love 2022’s The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, he’s the Dark Knight from the get-go with no origin retelling.

As part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU, we’re being treated to a new Batman movie that will be its entity and will have no relation to the aforementioned The Batman.
Instead, as the name of the movie suggests, Batman: Brave and the Bold will be inspired by the popular animated series that sees Bruce Wayne team up with his son, Damien aka, The Boy Wonder, Robin.
Batman: Brave and the Bold is in such an early phase of production, that we don’t even know its story, who’ll be cast in the movie nor do we have an exact release date. That being said, James Gunn has at least confirmed one major detail related to its plot.
As reported by comicbookmovie.com, James Gunn has confirmed that Batman: Brave and the Bold will not have an origin story.

“He [Batman] already exists in this universe just like when we come to the Superman movie and we see that Superman already exists and is already known by the people of Metropolis,” said Gunn.
He continued: “We don't need to hear the origin story again. That's just the way to introduce that Batman is a part of this universe.”
So, there you have it, there will be no origin story for Bruce Wayne in Batman: Brave and the Bold. As for Superman, it will arrive in cinemas on 11 July 2025.
