Batman has made his first appearance as the Dark Knight in the new DCU.

When it comes to iconic comic book characters, the Caped Crusader is one of the biggest names of all time. Ever since Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, made his debut in issue 27 of DC’s Detective Comics in 1939, the defender of Gotham City has grown in popularity with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

The DC movie franchise is at the start of a major shift, with Zack Synder no longer leading the way. Now, we’re seeing the dawn of the DCU, with James Gunn and Peter Safran shaking things up, which begins with Superman arriving in cinemas on 11 July 2025.

Much like the MCU, the DCU will have a shared universe with potential crossover events from movies, TV series, and comic books. Whether the DCU will share the same success as the MCU remains to be seen.

We know that we’re getting a new Batman movie in the DCU inspired by The Brave and the Bold, which will see Bruce Wayne team up with his loyal sidekick and son, Damian Wayne aka, Robin.

However, details on Batman: Brave and the Bold are very vague at this time with the cast and synopsis yet to be announced. That being said, that hasn't stopped Batman from making his debut in the DCU long before those movie details were dropped.

As shared by the Twitter account DCU Brief, we’ve been treated to our first look at Batman in the DCU during episode six of the Amazon Prime animated series, Creature Commandos.

What’s more, as pointed out by new_era72, it looks like Batman will be wearing his classic blue and grey outfit. Interestingly, this is the same colour combo that Batman wears in the Brave and the Bold animated series, so could we see the same outfit in live-action form?

Created by James Gunn, Creature Commandos' seventh and final episode of season one will premiere next week on 7 January 2025.

As for the Batman: Brave and the Bold movie, its release date is yet to be announced but we’ll let you know as soon as those details drop.
