A new film in the DCU is appearing in 2026, and it’s part of the Batman canon, as Clayface will give the iconic villain the centre stage.
It seems that before Batman has debuted, we’ll have one of his rogue’s gallery in a solo outing from DC Studios.

James Gunn announced the film, and confirmed it will be part of the DCU rather then the Elseworld brand.

The script comes from horror legend Mike Flanagan, though at this time he’s not down to direct the film.
Of course, details are extremely thin on the ground, but we do know who will be playing Clayface.
Alan Tudyk is voicing the Batman villain for Creature Commandos, and the DCU has a plan in place that says voice actors will go on to play their characters in any live-action properties.
Gunn clarified this detail some time ago in an interview where he said, “What this means in practical terms is that our characters can move in and out of animation or jump into a game or onto the big screen, but they will remain consistent throughout: same character, same history, same actor.”

This is exciting news for DC fans as it really feels like the DCU is getting out of the starting blocks.
Between Creature Commandos, Peacemaker, and Superman, Gunn is ensuring that DC fans will have a few things to watch over the coming years.
There’s no news on who will be Batman when the time comes, but you can be sure that Gunn will bring the news to social media when the time is right.
Alan Tudyk already plays Clayface in the Harley Quinn TV show but will be playing a more maniacal version of the villain elsewhere.

In his words, he will play this version of the villain as a "homicidal maniac."
