Just when the Cyberpunk 2077 hype had started to lull ever so slightly, CD Projekt RED appeared at the last minute earlier this month to announce a brand-new update.
Not only that but a recent comment from one big name has fans feeling excited about the future of the Cyberpunk genre as a whole.

Earlier this month CD Projekt RED shocked fans by revealing that it had secretly been working on Update 2.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 despite announcing earlier this year that it had wrapped up development on the 2020 hit altogether.

Update 2.2 brought with it a bunch of new additions to the game including car modifications, improved photo mode and over 100 new character customisation assets.
However, it seems as though the excitement will not end there as in a recent interview, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty star Idris Elba has revealed that he would be interested in a live-action movie.
Speaking to Screen Rant ahead of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Elba said the following:
"I think if any film could do a live-action rendition, it could be [Cyberpunk 2077], and I think [Keanu Reeves'] character and my character together would be, 'Whoa.' So, let's speak that into existence."

However, it seems as though Elba is not the only one interested in a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 as, back in late 2023, entertainment company Anonymous Content revealed that it had begun development on that exact project.
Claiming that it had teamed up with CDPR itself, it revealed that the live-action remake would be set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe but since then, we have received no further updates about the potential project.
Nevertheless, it seems that the interest is indeed there, even from the stars themselves, so it may not be long before a Cyberpunk 2077 movie or television show is released.
Until then, Netflix’s animation series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is carrying the torch and it does an excellent job at it, if I do say so myself.
