Red Dead Redemption 2 players are still dedicated to seeing everything Rockstar Games’ Western has to offer, and many are still finding new stuff to see and do after hours and hours of playtime. However, a new mod has granted players a new way to explore the Wild West, from the air, in a hot air balloon.

Simply named Hot Air Balloon, made by KranK on Nexus Mods, the mod gives players complete control over their very own hot air balloon, allowing them to traverse the landscapes through the air instead of on horseback.

The balloon was featured during some of the missions in Red Dead Redemption 2, but players only had control over the altitude, which is something this mod changes. Now, players can fully control where they go in the balloon, granting complete freedom to traverse the open sky in any direction. Admittedly it’s slower than travelling on a horse or in a carriage, but it’s definitely more cinematic and visually pleasing.

Fans have always praised the game’s graphical fidelity, which still holds up when compared to the latest releases. Attention to detail is something frequently brought up when discussing the visuals, and while the small details will be even smaller in the air, the hot air balloon should give players a fresh perspective when admiring the work that went into constructing the game’s world.

Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to hold its popularity amongst gamers, even getting a mention in Tenacious D’s latest music video. It continues to retain a dedicated fanbase and modding community, who are hellbent on providing new and intuitive ways to expand the game’s world, experiment with new gameplay methods, and point out in-game details or events that the majority of players won’t have seen in their playthroughs.

It’s no wonder Grand Theft Auto VI is so highly anticipated amongst Rockstar fans. Not only does it have to exceed its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto V, but also find a way to surpass the masterpiece that is Red Dead Redemption 2.
