Two actors are apparently in the running to play a live-action version of Lara Croft in an upcoming Tomb Raider TV show, and the reactions to the potential casting decisions are mixed (at best).
As announced back in May this year, a live-action Tomb Raider project is already in the pre-production stage.
The show is being produced and published by Amazon MGM Studios, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge (who starred in both Fleabag and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny) attached as an executive producer and writer.

Although we don’t know too much about the series outside of this, it’s since been revealed that two actors are currently being considered for the lead role.
According to a recent report published by Deadline's Nellie Andreeva, several sources told the publication that Sophie Turner (of Game Of Thrones and X-Men: Apocalypse fame) and Lucy Boynton (who co-starred in both Murder on the Orient Express and Bohemian Rhapsody) are currently in the running to play Lara Croft.
Personally, I think they’re both ok choices, I guess? Neither of them really jump out at me as stellar picks for the role, but I’m always open to being surprised.
The internet disagrees however, as the general response to these casting choices has not been positive.

In DiscussingFilm’s Twitter post discussing the casting choices, it’s genuinely pretty hard to find a single positive reaction to the casting rumour.
“Fire whoever is in charge of casting immediately” replied @MattBarclay20
“Both are absolutely terrible choices I’m sorry…” stated user @DeadmanBostonB, “I hope they see this, PLEASE BACK OUT I BEG YOU”
I mean the internet rarely responds positively to anything these days, but the consensus on this one does seem pretty unanimous.

Amazon are likely paying close attention to the fan response however, and there’s still plenty of time for them to consider other actors for the titular role.
