How are we all feeling after yesterday’s The Last of Us TV show trailer drop? Judging by my Twitter timeline, everyone seems to be just as excited as I am which is to say very. We all had a sneaky feeling that The Last of Us could herald in the golden age of game adaptations. Granted, it’s only a trailer but what we’re seeing already looks rather nice indeed. It has been pointed out that the trailer is missing a major character, but it also introduces a mysterious new survivor.
Take a look at the brand new trailer for HBO’s The Last Of Us series below.
The trailer introduced us to Kathleen, portrayed by Melanie Lynskey. I hear you saying ‘Who?’ Well, Kathleen can be seen roughly around the one-minute mark striding towards the camera. It’s now been revealed that Kathleen is a “ruthless leader of a revolutionary movement in Kansas City.”

You may recall that in the game, Ellie and Joel encounter a group of Hunters in Pittsburgh. In the world of The Last of Us, a Hunter essentially refers to someone who hunts down humans, killing them for their belongings. From what we understand, this sequence will now take place in Kansas City.
Therefore, it sure sounds like Kathleen could be leading the Hunters. They certainly are cutthroat, and they seemed to kick FEDRA out of the city so that ticks the “revolutionary” box. Then again, we don’t know what elements of the story the show is set to change. Perhaps Kathleen will be a friend and not a foe. I doubt it though.
