While the majority of Rockstar Games fans are waiting for Grand Theft Auto VI and Red Dead Redemption 3, some fans are calling for a different game, a remake of The Warriors for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Currently, Rockstar Games are working away on GTA VI, with a reveal expected in the coming months, and the promise of “perfection” by Rockstar’s publisher Take-Two Interactive. Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption fans are thinking ahead to Red Dead Redemption 3, or possibly a remaster of the original Red Dead Redemption, with the voice actor for the game’s protagonist admitting he’d love to return to the series.
Surprisingly though, other fans are looking at other Rockstar IPs, with the hopes that some of them could return to the spotlight with remakes or remasters, like the 2005 action beat-em-up, The Warriors, which was released in 2005 for the original Xbox and PlayStation 2. A petition is currently calling for a remake of the game, and is sitting at an impressive 2,000 signatures.

The Warriors, based on the 1979 film of the same name, takes players through a dangerous and gritty New York City, full of gang warfare and brutal street fights. With a heavy focus on melee combat, the game received positive reviews, praising its controls and its faithful adaptation of the film.
It received a re-release on PS3 and PS4 years later, but has seemingly been forgotten by Rockstar and the majority of its fans. Not everybody forgot though, such as Jaiden Thornton, who started the petition that called for the game’s remaster. Thornton stated: “I’m creating this article because I believe that the warriors deserves a complete remake and graphic overhaul not a remaster where it ends up bad and I know rockstar games can do this because of the money there making from red dead redemption 2 online and grand theft auto V online
“[The Warriors] would look gorgeous if this game was remade and released with a collectors Edition and on the ps5 and Xbox series S/X and for the Pc”

While it’s unlikely Rockstar will revive their old title, given that their all hands on deck with the GTA and Red Dead series, it’d be great to see them bring The Warriors back, as well as some of their other popular games, such as Bully or Manhunt. For now, though, it’s probably best to just let them crack on with Grand Theft Auto VI, which sounds absolutely monumental in scope and design…
