Thousands of fans petition to revive Def Jam for PS5, Xbox Series X/S

Over 8000 fans have rallied their support to bring Def Jam back, in hopes of getting a new game on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Who remembers the Def Jam games? EA’s beloved series which combined fighting with hip hop has been stagnant for years now. Its last actual fighting game, Def Jam: Icon, released in 2007, and there was also a karaoke title called Def Jam Rapstar which came out in 2010, but that’s sadly it, and fans have been hoping for a revival for some time.

These same loyal fans have now decided to take matters into their own hands, and launch a petition to prove to EA how much support there is for a new instalment on modern consoles. And so far, it’s been going pretty great.

If you love fighting games, chances are, you're probably pretty excited for Street Fighter 6. Take a look at some beta gameplay footage below.

Started by YouTube creator RAH GAMING, at the time of writing, over 8500 people have signed the petition to see a new Def Jam game on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Many have also left comments explaining how much a comeback of the series would mean to them.

“What can I say this game is top tier and long overdue. Nostalgia isn’t even enough to describe how insanely fun this game is bring it back pleasssseeee!” one wrote. “This game meant a lot to me growing up playing it all the time after school with my brother, this game was the sh**! I want another game,” commented another. “I own all of the Def Jam games and would love for this to come to fruition!” another said.

Earlier this year, Ice-T also jumped back onto the Def Jam comeback train when he took to Twitter to ask for a Fight for NY reboot, certain that it “would be a huge hit all over again”. He himself starred in the game, so it’s reassuring to know he’d probably be up for making a new instalment if the opportunity arose.

It remains to be seen whether EA will respond to the petition - it was actually set up several years ago, but continues to get signatures. If you want to add your own, you can find it on Change.org, here.
