If you are a fan of cozy gaming and are looking for something magical, this Steam Next Fest freebie is a great way to relax without spending a dime. The Witch’s Bakery is a story-rich 2D adventure that has been lovingly illustrated, where you take on the life of a resident bread witch.
The Witch’s Bakery combines 2D adventure exploration with big Kiki’s Delivery Service vibes. You take on the role of a witch in Paris who has the ability to heal hearts with her magic as well as her baking.
You will spend time baking snacks, serving customers, exploring the incredible landscapes of Paris, and building relationships with special NPCs that enter your life. The game has released a new demo with the first two hours of gameplay, giving players a look at what the full launch of the game will include.
Currently, it doesn’t look like the demo will be taken down at the end of Steam Next Fest. This means that players can take their time in The Witch’s Bakery and play through the first few hours as many times as they like while they wait for the full release.
The Witch’s Bakery is set to release sometime in 2026, with no set release date currently available. It is possible that more information may be announced during the Wholesome Direct showcase this year. The 2026 Wholesome Direct typically airs at the beginning of June.

Currently, The Witch’s Bakery is going to be released across all platforms, including PC, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox. It isn’t known how much the final game will cost.
For those who enjoy a bit of nostalgia with their gaming, or who liked titles like Spiritfarer, it seems like The Witch’s Bakery will be the right combination of management and emotional storyline. While Lunne, the main character of the story, is a bit older than Kiki, she seems to embody the same joyful personality and desire for adventure.
Hopefully, the full journey will be just as lovely and cozy as the demo when the game releases in full later this year.
