The Last Of Us meets Fallout and Valheim in new game you can try free now

New survival game coming soon

A new game coming to Steam looks like a good mix of The Last of Us and Valheim, with a little bit of Fallout sprinkled in for good measure.

Vein is a new early access survival game coming to Steam by developer Ramjet Studios, in which players must gather supplies and rebuild society with their friends.

“In the near future, the apocalypse has occurred,” Vein’s official description on the Steam store states. “Hostile zombies roam the Earth, most people have died, and society has collapsed. You are a survivor.

“Gather supplies to survive, explore abandoned buildings, combat bandits, defend your home, and rebuild society with friends.”

Vein will apparently have dynamic environments, in which the world itself will change as time goes on and seasons change, affecting your survival chances.

Ramjet also says the zombie AI is highly intelligent, and can react to players using all of their senses, including smell. You’d better hope your survivor group doesn’t go overboard on the perfumed soap.

As an early access survival crafting game, expect base building and item scavenging to be a big part of the experience too, in which you’ll build up the fortifications to drive off zombie attacks as well as hunt for food so you don’t go hungry.

If you’d like to get your hands on the game earlier, Ramjet has released a free demo. While some demos only feature a small slice of the final game, it sounds like there’s quite a lot to enjoy here.

The Vein demo will feature a small portion of the game’s world, and will restrict you to a level cap of 50 instead of 100. Apart from that, however, it has all the same content as the full game does.

What’s more is the demo will feature crossplay with the full game when that eventually releases, so players who pay for the full experience can still play with those on the demo.

Vein doesn’t have a release date for its early access launch yet, but Ramjet estimates that when it does, the game will be in early access for about five years.
