The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion fans can rejoice to hear that its remake is finally nearing completion after being in development for over 11 years.
First released way back in 2006, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was our Skyrim before The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the Bethesda RPG that introduced many players to the franchise.
In the meantime, check out the teaser trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI below!
However, not coming up to its 20-year anniversary, it is safe to say that Oblivion is pretty outdated by modern-day standards and despite Bethesda hard at work on The Elder Scrolls 6, we are finally receiving an Oblivion remaster.

It’s just not from Bethesda itself.
Instead, Skyblivion is a remastered version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion created by the TESRenewal modding group.
Skyblivion will give us the characters and setting from Oblivion but it will be playable via the Skyrim Special Edition so it will look better than it ever has before.
This fan-made project has officially been in development for the past 11 years but began development “in earnest” in 2018.

As a result, Skyblivion is finally nearing completion according to a recent update video from its creators.
In the video, TESRenewal revealed that the Oblivion remaster is set for a 2025 release.
“We are nearly ready to release an entirely remastered Elder Scrolls game," the team announced.
"We're finalizing the world map, with only the Nibenay region on Cyrodiil's eastern border left to complete. Massive swathes of the map are ready for the Hero of Kvatch to explore."

In the meantime, TESRenewal are calling for volunteers to help with the finishing touches as they focus on the main storyline for Skyblivion.
"We are currently focused on the main game experience to ensure it is released on time," they previously shared.
"Once the main game of Skyblivion is released we will look into how we can tackle DLCs and we will be sure to share more information on our next steps closer to the time.”
We may not get The Elder Scrolls 6 this year but it does seem as though we are set to get the next best thing.
