The Elder Scrolls 6 announcement met with increasing anger: ‘what the actual f’

How much longer must we endure?

I’ll be honest, there’s a part of me that doesn’t actually feel any hurt regarding the wait for The Elder Scrolls VI.

That’s not because I don’t care though, quite the opposite in fact.

After so long, that yearning for the next instalment sort of becomes enveloped by a numbness.

My hype will return when the game manifests and I haven’t stopped theorising about what The Elder Scrolls VI might be like, but life’s too short to spend every day angry over its current lack of existence.

That’s where I stand anyway, but I’m not on the same page as all Elder Scrolls fans.

You see, the game recently passed a rather bleak milestone.

The Elder Scrolls VI’s initial reveal trailer, unveiled at E3 in 2018, has now surpassed how old Skyrim was when the trailer initially dropped.

I’ll unpack exactly what that equates to.

Skyrim was 2,403 days old when The Elder Scrolls VI reveal trailer dropped - or six years, seven months, and three days.

Well, the time between The Elder Scrolls VI’s trailer dropping and the present day has now surpassed that.

It’s not as if we needed proof that Bethesda announced this game too early but if we did, that’d be it.

Here’s the trailer in question.

It’s with that in mind that you can understand why so much of the fanbase remains pretty miffed.

“What the actual f**k,” wrote Reddit user KA1N3R at the realisation.

“I remember reading a Reddit comment in 2013 predicting we might not get ES6 until 2020 and thought that sounded absolutely insane. Yet here we are, probably aren’t getting it until the PS6,” added --kwisatzhaderach–.

Shan_qwerty remarked, “ I can't stop thinking about how we used to get huge amazing sequels within two years of the original great game, and now we just casually have to wait 10 to 15 years between some releases.”

While I can’t see The Elder Scrolls VI releasing any time soon, we surely are due an update from Bethesda now that Starfield is out in the world.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
