The Elder Scrolls 6 announcement leaves fans more heartbroken than ever

We need to be a bit more optimistic

The Elder Scrolls VI is somehow disappointing people before it’s even been released, sounds like classic Bethesda.

Let’s be fair though, Bethesda has been pretty busy over the last few years with Fallout 76 and its brand-new IP Starfield, which wasn’t the runaway success the studio was probably hoping it’d be, but it took up a lot of development time nonetheless.

If you liked Starfield and haven’t tried the new expansion, Shattered Space, yet, we’d highly recommend it.

Now there’s nothing stopping full-time development on The Elder Scrolls VI, but fans think it might be too late, or more specifically too early.

Apparently 2025 marks the time that the announcement trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI turns just as old as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was when that initial teaser was shared.

The reveal trailer was shared during E3 in 2018, seven years ago. For comparison Skyrim launched in 2011, seven years prior to the Elder Scrolls VI announcement teaser.

The trailer has been mocked relentlessly online for how premature it was, with some wondering what was even “the point of that teaser. It just had a camera pan across the countryside”.

“Crazy how I used to think TES:VI would come out in a very distant year like 2022,” said one fan, and they’re absolutely right. The teaser, at the time, led to speculation that the next Elder Scrolls game would be out in the next three or four years.

It’s good that Bethesda is taking its sweet time with the game, as we’d rather have a gorgeously crafted sequel that delivers everything we were expecting, but I think we can unanimously agree it was announced way too soon.

Worse yet is there’s still no word on when it might come out, though many are hoping for a second teaser later this year that provides more concrete information on its features and launch window.
