This week’s episode of The Boys was really quite something, wasn’t it? In case you missed it, ‘Herogasm’ featured a superhero orgy described as “not suitable for any audience”.
I’ll let the official ‘warning’ do the talking: “This episode depicts a massive supe orgy, airborne penetration, dildo-based maiming, extra strength lube, icicle phalluses and cursing. It is not suitable for any audience.” Yeah, there was a lot going on and to add to this, we now know that the episode was inspired by an octopus documentary.
Take a look at the trailer for season three of The Boys right here.
During this week’s episode, Chase Crawford’s character The Deep decided to get it on, so to speak, with an octopus. Well, Crawford has now opened up about the scene with Variety, explaining that series creator Eric Kripke got the idea from Netflix’s My Octopus Teacher documentary.

You may be familiar with the documentary which won an Academy Award. It centres around filmmaker Craig Foster who forges a relationship with an octopus. Unlike The Boys, My Octopus Teacher is a completely wholesome affair.
Crawford told Variety, “He was watching that documentary, which is a very touching documentary, and he was like, 'Is the guy, like, sexual with it? Is he going to, like, f**k this octopus?' That was going through Kripke's mind and he was like 'Ohhh, this is going to go in the writers' room.'"
He went on to add, “Scientifically it can't actually happen. There's not an orifice. So it's so out there, but that rig was the most cumbersome and annoying. I didn't realise how heavy it was going to be. It was like a necklace.” I think I’ve heard quite enough but there you go. That’s how fake sex with an octopus was made. You’re welcome.
