If, for some reason, Outcast has slipped past you, it’s worth taking a look at, especially if you like third-person adventures. From what we can see of this upcoming title, it appears to be riffing off several great games and creating its own space in the 2024 landscape.

Outcast - A New Beginning is a sequel to the 1999 cult classic which brings the series into the modern age with some truly stunning visuals and plenty of wonderful jetpack movement and action. You will play as Cutter Slade on a mission to save the planet of Adelpha, a story created by the original team of the first game.

No Man's Sky is one of the best modern action games for natural exploration

That’s right, the original team has come together to create a brand new adventure which, I must say, looks stunning. Based on the game’s Steam page trailers, Outcast will see you flying through lush forests, arid deserts, and frozen tundras on a mission to save the people of Adelpha.

While we can’t see a great deal of story in the trailers, the game’s blurb has the game feeling like an old school action title with plenty of combat and explosions to knock your socks off. “You play as Cutter Slade, ex-Navy SEAL, sporting the same dry wit he had back in the 90s – however, the world around him has changed, and eventually, so will he. Resurrected by the almighty Yods, he has returned to find the Talans enslaved, the world stripped of its natural resources, and his own past intertwining with the invading robot forces.”

There appears to be a lot of inspiration in this long-awaited sequel, or at least, Outcast shares some similarities with recent titles like Starfield, Just Cause, and No Man’s Sky. All worthy titles in which to find inspiration, especially when telling an action story with amazing movement skills and abilities.
