Starfield 'out of the blue' pre-order cancellations leave fans heartbroken

This is not okay.

With just over a few weeks to go until launch, Starfield fans are still being hit by sudden and completely unexpected pre-order cancellations.

Bethesda’s first open-world RPG in years, Starfield, is one of the most-anticipated video games of the decade. Many reckon it could be a Game Of The Year contender, and early impressions seem to allay any fears we had about bugs and performance issues at launch.

Check out the love-action trailer for Starfield’s below!

Starfield will have over 1,000 planets to explore, and will allow you to soar through the galaxy in a ship of your own design. Fans are so excited they've already started planning their playthroughs, and are kissing loved ones goodbye as they prepare to sink hundreds, if not thousands, of hours into Bethesda's latest.

Unfortunately a large number of gamers who pre-ordered the Starfield Constellation Edition are being hit with last-minute updates announcing their orders have been cancelled.

One cancellation was shared on a Reddit thread a few months ago by user Beltaine-7716 who said: “I'm more than a little concerned about the order update I just got” along with a screenshot that confirmed the tragedy.

Others soon jumped in to share their own experiences, suggesting a large number of orders were cancelled.

Another user added: “Same and mine was ordered an hour after the direct on June 11th shenanigans are afoot. Hopefully, this is some error and not a mass cancellation.”

The issue doesn't appear to have eased up, either. As early as just a few weeks ago users returned to the thread to reveal they've also been struck due to a "system error".

"I just got an email stating that my pre-order was cancelled due to System Error," one Reddit users explained. "Called customer service to ask why. Could not get answer on why after a month of preordering the Damn thing that out of the blue cancelled."

It's unclear why so many orders have been cancelled, but it's likely that retailers simply didn't have enough stock to meet demand. Hopefully, with just a couple weeks left to go before Starfield launches, we're past the worst of these mysterious cancellations.
